The Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation (SMGF) team comprises over 20 people, including molecular biologists, geneticists, full-time genealogists, and specialists in bio-information and operations.

Laboratory work for SMGF is performed by Sorenson Genomics, and the Western Institutional Review Board is responsible for reviewing SMGF procedures and findings.

SMGF team members are frequent presenters at national and international genetic and genealogy conferences, and have authored or co-authored numerous scholarly articles in the field of genetic genealogy.
